While your article raises valid concerns about loneliness, dating challenges, and perceived crisis in masculinity, its framing often implies that men must reshape themselves to align with feminine ideals to be desirable. This premise is flawed and overlooks a critical reality: men are not broken women, nor should they be expected to emulate them to find connection.
I question the “feminist ally who takes the lead.” Men are navigating a maze of contradictions—be vulnerable yet strong, empathetic yet dominant—while grow uping in environments heavily influenced by women’s perspectives. From birth, most men are raised primarily by women—mothers and often female teachers through primary and secondary school. Instead of demanding men conform further, we should foster mutual understanding, where both men and women value each other’s unique contributions. Men don’t need to become more like women; they need space to be authentically themselves, just as women do.

Thanks for writing and sharing this man. We are certainly lost…

I’ve appreciated David Deida’s writing (The way of the superior man, among others) a lot on my journey.

I’ve never used a dating app, but after a very long relationship spanning my entire twenties, it’s very hard to come to terms with how clueless I now appear to be when it comes to dating… Yikes 😀
